Connecting ChatGPT

Add Clment as a custom MCP connector in ChatGPT using Developer mode.

Updated 11 Aug 2026

ChatGPT can drive Clment’s full review surface through the same MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that powers the Claude connector. Turn on Developer mode, add the connector, authorize once, then chat.

Before you start

You’ll need:

  • A paid ChatGPT plan — Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu. Custom MCP connectors aren’t available on the Free tier.
  • The ChatGPT web app (chatgpt.com), where custom connectors are managed.
  • A Clment account with at least one organization. The connector is scoped to whichever org you authorize against, so sign in to the right one first.

ChatGPT only connects to remote MCP servers reachable over HTTPS — which Clment is. It can’t run local command-line MCP servers.

1. Turn on Developer mode

  1. Open Settings → Apps (this section was called Connectors before December 2025).
  2. Open Advanced settings.
  3. Turn on Developer mode.

Developer mode unlocks full read and write MCP tools, so only enable the actions you’re comfortable letting an agent take.

2. Add the Clment connector

  1. Back in Settings → Apps, choose Create (add a new connector / app).
  2. Give it a name (e.g. Clment) and a short description.
  3. For the server URL, paste Clment’s MCP endpoint for your org’s data region: https://api-<your-region>.clment.com/v1/mcp (e.g. https://api-uk.clment.com/v1/mcp). The exact URL is shown under Settings → Connect AI Agent in the Clment web app.
  4. For authentication, choose OAuth. Clment self-registers via Dynamic Client Registration, so you don’t need a Client ID or Secret.

3. Authorize once

ChatGPT opens Clment’s consent page in your browser. It shows exactly which skills the connector is requesting — read, write, or both. Sign in to Clment if needed and click Allow.

The connection ChatGPT keeps:

  • Is scoped to one organization — add a second connector to use another org.
  • Is attributed to you in Clment’s audit logs for any write actions.
  • Can be revoked any time under Settings → Connect AI Agent in the Clment web app.

4. Chat

In a chat, open the + / Apps menu and enable Clment for the conversation. Then ask away:

  • “List my contracts expiring in the next 90 days.”
  • “Upload this URL and start a review with our standard vendor rulebook.”
  • “For REV-12, accept the AI’s recommendations and generate the redline.”

With a read + write connection, ChatGPT can also correct the details Clment extracted — the parties, the key dates and duration, or the financial terms — and every edit is logged to your name (the MCP skills catalog lists each write tool):

  • “On CLM-42, change Pavel Kopytin’s role to Landlord and add PropNex Realty as a counterparty.”
  • “Set CLM-42’s effective date to 13 Oct 2018, expiry to 12 Oct 2020, and the duration to 2 years.”
  • “Update CLM-42’s financials to SGD 2,400 per month, payable monthly in advance.”

Uploading files

Ask ChatGPT to “upload this contract and start a review”. The most reliable route is to give it a link to the file — a Google Drive, SharePoint, or any HTTPS URL Clment can reach — which Clment fetches server-side. You can also drag the file into the Clment web app directly. (Pushing a local file’s bytes straight from the chat depends on ChatGPT’s file tooling and isn’t always available.) Troubleshooting

No “Developer mode” option — you’re likely on the Free plan, or not in the web app. Developer-mode connectors need a paid plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu) on chatgpt.com.

Connection fails — confirm the URL ends in /v1/mcp, and that your region’s API answers in a browser (https://api-au.clment.com/health — your region’s host — returns JSON).

Connector loses access after a while — re-authorize from Settings → Apps. If it keeps dropping, revoke the connector in Clment (Settings → Connect AI Agent) and add it again.

“Unknown or revoked client” on the consent screen, or switching to a different Clment account, org, or region — ChatGPT keeps the connector it first registered, so it presents the same identity even after you delete the connection. If that identity belongs to a different Clment environment or region (or was revoked), the consent screen can’t accept it. Reconnect cleanly:

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Apps and select the Clment connector.
  2. Disconnect it first.
  3. Then Delete the connector. Disconnect before you delete — deleting a still-connected connector can leave the stale registration behind, and you’ll hit the same error next time.
  4. Create it again with the server URL for the account and region you want (shown under Settings → Connect AI Agent in the Clment web app), and authorize.
