When your organisation moves regions
What happens during a data-residency region move — the short maintenance window, what keeps working afterwards, and the one thing you need to reconnect.
Updated 19 Aug 2026
Clment runs in multiple regions so your organisation’s data can live where you need it to. Occasionally an organisation is moved from one region to another — usually at your request, for data-residency reasons. The move is run by our team and is designed to be a non-event for you: a short maintenance window, then everything back as it was.
What you’ll see
- A notice email and an in-app banner telling you a short maintenance window is coming, typically a few minutes ahead.
- A short read-only period. You can keep viewing your contracts throughout; changes are paused. Anything running when the window starts (a review, an export) finishes normally first — nothing is cancelled.
- A completion email confirming your organisation now runs from its new region. Keep it — it’s your record of the change for data-residency evidence.
Signing in works as normal throughout; after the move you’re routed to the new region automatically. If you had the app open, refresh once the banner clears.
What keeps working
Everything, with one exception below:
- All your contracts, reviews, rulebooks, chat history, key dates, and settings move together — nothing to re-upload or reconfigure.
- API keys keep working unchanged. Integrations you’ve built against the Clment API carry on without any action.
- Webhooks, team members, sign-in methods (including SSO and MFA), and your billing arrangement are unaffected. Payments and invoices continue exactly as before.
The one thing to reconnect: AI agents (MCP)
Connections from AI agents — Claude, other MCP clients, anything connected through Settings → AI Assistants — are region-specific for security reasons and must be reconnected after the move. Open your agent’s connection settings and connect to Clment again; it takes under a minute. Your completion email includes this reminder.
Questions
If anything looks out of place after a move — a document you can’t find, an integration behaving oddly — contact support and mention the region move. For the first 30 days after a move we retain a locked copy of your data in the previous region as an additional safety net, after which it is permanently removed.
